By John T Jones, Ph.D. Who says that nothing good can come out of Washington, D.C.? The Associated Press reported that Dinosaurs ate grasses. Scientists have found grasses in their poop. It was in the journal Science. Scientist didnt think that Dinosaurs had the teeth for grass. They liked to chew on palm tree bark and ferns like in the movies. (I added this last sentence for color.) It seems that the scientist were confused about grasses too. They sprouted much sooner than they thought. I guess they didnt read the Bible account. Here is a quaint sentence extracted by AP from the article: Most people would not have fashioned that they would eat grasses. That was said by Caroline Stromberg of the Swedish Museum of Natural History. She should know! Ill bet that museum is in Stockholm and I missed it when I was there! How to Grow Rhubarb

By Rachel Paxton I have always grown rhubarb in my garden. Sometimes we eat it
and sometimes we don't, but I think I just enjoy admiring its big
green leaves and pretty red stalks. Rhubarb will grow almost anywhere. We have moved our rhubarb
plant five times in the past twenty years (yes, twenty!). It
just keeps coming back year after year. This plant is very
resistant to winter weather and drought. It grows better in
northern states than southern states because it doesn't care for
hot humid summer weather. Here are some basic tips for growing rhubarb: Rhubarb season runs from April to September. You can buy starter
plants (root clumps) at most garden nurseries. The best time to
plant them is early spring, but I have also transplanted them in
fall, and they came back in the spring. Rhubarb prefers fertile, well drained soil. It thrives best in
full sun but will also tolerate part shade (it just won't grow as
large). Plant your rhubarb roots in a hole two feet deep and two feet
wide and leave at least three feet between plants. When you
place the plant in the hole, the crown bud should be two inches
below the ground surface. Add some composted manure or peat moss
to the hole before filling it in. The plant won't be big enough to harvest the first year, but
starting in the second year you can cut a few stalks as soon as
they grow to about the size of your finger. Cut the stalk to the
ground level. Only the stalks are edible--the leaves are
poisonous and should not be consumed. Flowering stalks can be
cut and discarded whenever they appear. Fertilize your rhubarb plant with composted manure or leaves in
the fall or early winter. Rhubarb is easy to freeze. Choosing firm red stalks, wash in
cold water and cut into 1-inch lengths. Place in freezer bags or
freezer containers. Leave 1/2 inch space for expansion in
freezer containers. Here are some great rhubarb recipes for your family to try: Rhubarb Crunch 6 c. raw rhubarb, chopped
1-1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. shortening
3 T. flour
1 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix rhubarb, 3 T. flour, and white
sugar and place in bottom of greased 9x13 pan. Mix remaining
flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, butter, and shortening until
crumbly. Sprinkle on top of rhubarb mixture. Bake 20 min. or
until rhubarb is tender. Rhubarb Upside Down Cake 4 c. rhubarb, diced
3 c. miniature marshmallows
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 box white cake mix
1 (3 oz.) package strawberry Jello
Butter Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place ingredients in a greased
13x9x2-inch baking dish in the following order: rhubarb, sugar,
dry jello, marshmallows. Top with dry cake mix and a little
butter. Bake for 45 minutes. Rhubarb Jam 4 c. cut rhubarb (fresh or frozen)
4 c. sugar
1 pkg. raspberry gelatin Heat rhubarb slowly in covered pan until rhubarb is tender,
adding a little water if necessary. Add sugar and cook until
sugar is dissolved. Stir to keep from sticking. Add gelatin and

One of the leading traitors of the American Revolution, Count Rumford (born plain Benjamin Thompson in Massachusetts), was indirectly responsible for the Baked Alaska. After a spying career on behalf of the British and some other military adventures, he moved to Paris and devoted his life to scientific observation, which included disquisitions on the properties of heat, among which was the recipe for omelette surprise, which used egg whites to insulate ice cream. Inspired by Rumfords work, others labored to create desserts that similarly combined an inner core of ice cream with an outer casing of some hot, sweet matterpastry or meringue. conservative in your estimation. Why is it so important to you and your business? Lifetime Customer Value is important to you and your business
for the following reasons: 1). Knowing the Lifetime Value of your customers is crucial to
you and your business as it serves as a benchmark without which
you'll be groping in the dark. When you know the Lifetime Value of your customers, you can
determine how much time, effort and money you can afford to
invest to acquire that customer in the first instance. In other words, you can invest more today to reap a much larger
profits later down the road as long as your cashflow is healthy
and can support it. Every marketing campaign that you undertake costs you money as
well as reaping you benefits such as increased sales, enhanced
corporate image, etc. But how can you be sure that the benefits
would outweigh the costs or investments? This is where knowing
the Customer Lifetime Value is so powerful - it helps you to
determine this even before you launch your marketing campaign. 2). When you realize that customers are actually an ongoing
stream of revenue as opposed to a one-shot sale, you can re-focus
your marketing efforts. Instead of contantly struggling to acquire more and more new
customers, you can now begin to focus on keeping your existing
customers longer and selling to them repeatedly, in other words,
repeat sales. You may spend more like making stronger and more attractive
offers than your competition in acquiring new customers now who
will be your money spinners tomorrow. This makes sense because you now know that on average you'll more
than make it back over the years that the customers are with you
and therefore you could afford to break even or even lose money
